A brief note to say how delighted we were with the granite wedge plaque that you recently designed & made for me.
It was just perfect for the tree planting in Bittadon churchyard, and you produced it well in time for the occasion. When anyone asked, I mentioned who had made it. I am glad to hear of a local firm producing good quality work.

Sign for restored 60 year old butchers bike.

Here is a lovely email we received from one of our customers – and you are wrong Jim – it does matter to us! We love to hear about what happens to our signs.

To Everyone at Signmaker,

May I put on record my sincere thanks to everyone for your excellent service and communication. It has been an absolute joy to work with you all.

Not that it matters to you much but I have been restoring a 60 yr old butchers bike to feature in our garden which we will be opening for charity in June. The attached photo’s hopefully will indicate how pleased I am with the final outcome…..beautifully finished off by Signmaker!!

Thanks again,
Jim Elkins.

Traditional Signs using Modern Materials

The Sign Maker
Painted Tricoya Signs

Traditional Signs
using modern materials

If you are looking for a more traditional looking sign with painted letters rather than vinyl letterng, these signs are your answer. The board is a wood based board made using a high performance resin. It is very stable, strong, durable and weatherproof. Tricoya itself comes with a 50 year guarantee. It is also environmentally friendly.

The sign is spray painted using is a two component polyurethane paint which is much more durable than standard brush-on paints. It is not only much tougher and longer lasting, but is also more resilient to chemicals.

As standard we paint Black & White. In addition Cream, Heritage Green, Red, Farrow & Ball Estate No.84 green blue, Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue, Red and Grey are available for extra £5. We can have other colours mixed for us and can match RAL, Dulux and Farrow & Ball colours

Painted Oak Signs are also available
Traditional Framed Signs

These top quality wooden framed signs are designed to last. They feel really solid and have a substancial weight to them. The style is  very traditional but we do use the latest panel material and paint system, along with a beautiful oak frame.

The inner panel is made from Tricoya board. This is a wood based board made using a high performance resin.

The frame & panel are sprayed with a two component polyurethane paint which is far more durable than standard brush-on paints. The lettering is then painted onto the panel (and frame as well if required)

Format for wording and dates on memorial plaques

The following suggestions are old school etiquette or tradition, but does not have to be adhered to – our customers can always have their memorial plaque made just the way they want.

Traditionally the husband is on the left and wife on the right, that is when viewing from the foot of the graves

When it comes to dates you can write them either 12/02/16 or 12-02-16, but we recommend / as it flows better when designing.

The inbetween ‘dash’ between dates is called an En-Dash and the code is Alt-0150
Dash = –
En-Dash = –

The En-dash shows that they where alive between those dates, a dash would imply they where alive for only those two days. Regrettably not all fonts have the En-dash.

Don’t worry too much about all this as our designers can always sort it out for you but we thought it might be helpful.

Hello!

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve received my order the other day. It came out absolutely beautiful!!! My husband and I cannot thank you enough. The marker is going to be used as a memorial for our daughter. I’ve spent several months searching for the perfect marker and am so happy I found your website, we could not be happier.

Thank you again for your beautiful craftsmanship.

Sincerely,

Theresa & John O’Reilly
